Online Turbidity Meter and Dissolved Oxygen Sensor Used by Chinese Distributors
Dr. Rob Paramore, Sales Director at Pi, recently traveled to China to meet with Pi’s distributors and customers. Accompanied by Chen Jiang, Pi’s representative in China, Dr. Paramore participated in a series of meetings, during which they discussed a wide range of Pi’s products, visited multiple installation sites across various applications, and engaged with both distributors, such as Huzhou IMP Environmental Technology Ltd., and end users.

One notable meeting took place at Beijing Enterprise Water Group Ltd. (BEWG Ltd.) in the Chaoyang District. BEWG Ltd. is a leading organization dedicated to the safe recycling of water and the protection of aquatic ecosystems. At BEWG Ltd., Pi’s pH and conductivity flow cells have been installed on a raw water sample line. These flow cells are maintained using a citric acid cleaning system, which operates automatically through a function integrated into Pi’s CRONOS® controller. This automation eliminates the need for manual cleaning, resulting in significant savings of both time and resources. Additionally, this automated cleaning functionality is available for Pi’s TurbSense® turbidity sensor and OxySense dissolved oxygen sensor.
BEWG Ltd. expressed particular interest in Pi’s new OxySense S2 sensor, which not only features automatic cleaning but also offers an auto-verify function. Auto-verify enables automatic, in situ verification of the sensor’s performance, making it especially valuable in applications where manual sensor verification is labor-intensive or where sensors are deployed in remote locations. Following the meeting, BEWG Ltd. invested in the OxySense S2 sensor, from which Pi received highly positive feedback after three months of successful operation.

A subsequent meeting was held with another team from BEWG Ltd., this time from the Fengtai District. During this session, Chen Jiang delivered a presentation covering a range of Pi’s products, including the AlkaSense®, Chloribrid®, and TurbSense® analyzers. The presentation generated substantial interest, particularly in the unique features of the TurbSense® sensor.
One of the main limitations of conventional turbidity analyzers is the reliance on a “factory set” zero, which can drift over time, or the need for a “zero NTU” sample to perform calibrations—a requirement that is often impractical due to the high risk of sample contamination. Pi’s TurbSense® addresses this issue through its patented MutoLux® technology, which automatically adjusts the light output to measure turbidity independently of background light interference and electronic drift, thereby eliminating the need for a traditional zero point.
